Hokuto Limited Express Train with East Japan Railway

Somehow I like the railway and enjoy the train sounding its horn. Seems to me the rail provides a way to the mystery tour. It brings you somethings new and somethings strange. And... you never get loss because the Big Dipper can give you a sense of direction when you are lost. This time I post some Japanese and it recorded my backpacking in Hokkaido Japan last year.






















A limited express train with sleeping cars called "The Dipper" running in Ueno - Sapporo Japan where the limited express was started in March, 1988. The Seikan Tunnel link up Aomori(青森 ) with Hakodate (函館). It will spend you about 16 hours to get to Sapporo from Ueno by taking the long-distance train. The total distance is 1214.9 Km.

１９８８年３月、「青函トンネル」の開業に合わせて上野～札幌間を結ぶ寝台特急「北斗星」が誕生しました。上野～札幌間の走行距離は１２１４．９Ｋｍ、所要時間は１６時間以上という、現在では珍しい在来線の長距離列車でもあります。




































There are 2 trains which commutes between Ueno and Sapporo every day. Of course, they will provide an additional train to run overtime during the rush hour.

現在は、毎日２往復が運行されており、繁忙期を中心に臨時列車も増発されます。














The train are fully equipped with restaurant, shower room, and dining car. You can enjoy your trip and have fun with the JR long-distance express.

この列車には食堂車のほかに、ロビーカー、シャワールームも完備、旅を満喫できることでしょう。














In addition to the conventional sleeping cars, it provide a lot of comfortable private room with one bed or two bed for those peoples who travel alone, female backpacker especially.

寝台も、従来のＢ寝台のほか、１～２人用の個室寝台も多く設置され、女性の一人旅にも安心です。
