Starbucks @ Narita Airport, Japan

The Starbucks locate in front of main entrance of Narita Express at the terminal 1, B1. You can get there right after passing the Japan custom. Grab one cup of coffee before you get on the train.

It will take you about 55 mins to get to Tokyo. Of course, Narita express can serve you a small cup of coffee but it cost you at same bucks. I believe you will not like it. Don't try it.

Before departure, you can get one with you there. If you can use airport lounge, just go get there. During the economy crisis, you had better save every single penny. Ha Ha...

Starbucks @ Shanghai, China

The Starbucks locates in corner of Shanghai New Square. As I work here in Shanghai, I play a visit to here very often. It's one of favor spot for tourist and I don't like it.

As a Starbucks advocator, I set up my office in the building with Starbucks and live in an apartment with the coffee shop. I'm too lazy to find a new Starbucks...

Starbucks @ Sapporo, Hokkaido Japan (札幌のStarbucks, パセオ店)

It's my first backpacking in Hokkaido in 2005. The first snow was coming while I arrived at Shin Sapporo Sheraton Hotel in the evening.

I took the JR train from Shin Sapporo to Sapporo and found the Starbucks coffee shop inside the Sapporo JR station. Taking a cup of cappuccino (トールカプチーノ) and studying my itinerary for the backpacking.

The cappuccino taste yummy. Is that caused by mixing up the sweet Hokkaido milk? I don't know...

Starbucks @ Aachen, Germany

The Starbucks locates in front of Aachen City Hall (Rathaus).

It was a raining day. I walked around the small town and played a visit to the plaza of Aachen city hall. Veteran Fireman's Association in Aachen was celebrating their holiday and they all standed in the fire engine sounding its horn.

I ordered a cup of Starbucks Caramel Macchiato and said "Grande, Extra hot, please"
They told me that " We (Europe) steam our milk to around 167 deg. F (75 deg. C) and it's hotter than yours (US)." ... "But I like it a bit hotter than that." Normally, I like to steam the milk up to 82 deg. C.

It's a very tasty drink, very addictive...

If you vote, Starbucks buys your coffee

What if we all cared enough to vote?
Not just 54% of us, but 100% of us?
What if we cared as much on Nov. 5th as we care on Nov. 4th?
What if we cared all of the time the way we care some of the time?
What if we cared when it was inconvenient as much as we care when its convenient?
Would your community be a better place?
Would our country be a better place?
Would our world be a better place?
We think so, too.

Celebrate the election today by coming into any Starbucks and well proudly give you a tall cup of brewed coffee. On us.
You and Starbucks. Its bigger than coffee.

Limit one per person. Good while supplies last. Void where prohibited by law.

That's the reason why I LOVE Starbucks. I'm going to post my good experiences @ Starbucks worldwide shortly.

An NPR Reporter Becomes the News - A coorespondent was impacted by Reduce In Force...

I just read the News from NY Times this morning and would like to quote the news for each of you. Alas... Road to recession and it's just another sad story. The financial world is a little scary these days. But I wanted to check up on you to make sure you are ok in the economy crisis. The domino effect from this is not going to be good. Good luck to all those whose jobs were eliminated. I hope this opens bigger door for you somewhere else. Simon T.

In September, Ketzel Levine, a senior correspondent for National Public Radio, came up with an idea for a series about how Americans were handling economic pressure. Called “American Moxie: How We Get By,” it began in early December. The subjects were people like an Illinois farmer who loved tending to his cows, but was having to sell them. “My idea was to look at how we adjust, how we change, what we have to dig deep and find in order to do what it takes to get by, and that’s where moxie came in,” Ms. Levine said.

Ms. Levine and her editor didn’t want a series of unconnected stories. “We came up with the idea that each person should be connected with the next somehow, and that was the best part for me,” she said. “I’d go on a story and have absolutely no idea what the next story would be — I’d have to find it while I was there.”

But there was an unexpected ending. Midway through her reporting, Ms. Levine found out that she had been laid off as part of a 64-employee cut at NPR.
Ms. Levine, who has worked at NPR since 1977, said she decided the final episode, and her final piece for NPR, should be about her own situation.

Ellen McDonnell, the director of morning programming, was not immediately sold on the idea. “I had some natural hesitation,” she said. “As a reporter, you never want the story to be about you.” At the same time, she said: “I also recognized a very unique opportunity for Ketzel to tell a story that lots of people can relate to. She found out in a very personal way what it’s like to have to start over again and to have that moxie she spoke about.”

The end result “was kind of eerie,” Ms. McDonnell said. “The whole concept that one person in the story would lead to another, and then it would all end with her, was not something any of us anticipated.”

In the short piece, which first ran last week just after a “Moxie” story about a Chicago landscaper, Ms. Levine took a personal approach. “It’s only today that I’m sane enough to tell you” about her having been laid off, she told listeners.

Ms. Levine, who lives in Portland, Ore., said she had no idea what she would do next. “Every story that we all do, we’re always looking for the perfect ending,” she said. “And suddenly it was handed to me. It was not one of my choosing, but as a storyteller, what could make a better story?”

Day Job

Wouldn't we all love to leave our dull grey cubicles behind if the rent could still get paid? This is the theme behind "Day Job", the song is about the monotony of the everyday 9-5 grind by Toronto's Sunshine State.

From Aleza's MV, I just recall many pleasant memories in Irvine office. A girl who sit next to me (my cubcle). The south California girl now move to bay area working for Google now. I took the picture in her last day here.

Well, It's about time for tea break and let's grab a cup of coffee. Wanna bite a muffin, too. ... ... Okay, time's up. One day I will leave my cubicle behind. "Don't quit your day job!" I meant it!

Get back to work now...

Verse 1

Where'd the weekend go
I say to Steve
As the elevator opens
On the 7th floor of hell

Third cup of coffee
Now I’m half awake
Start to wander through my email
Getting cozy in my cell

Pre chorus 1

1-2-3-4-5 more hours
crush my soul
and send me flowers
take me home
where I can be myself again

Chorus 1

Someday
Monday I’ll sleep in ‘till noon
And stay out late
And live the life I want
I know
One day
I’ll leave this dull grey cubicle behind
If the rent could still be paid

Verse 2

Try to be different
Wore striped socks today
I think that everybody noticed
Heard them talking in the hall

Hey you know there’s muffins
On Todd’s desk
Well I better hurry now and get one
Guess I’ll have to miss that call

Pre chorus 2

1-2-3-4-5 more hours
sing my love songs in the shower
brush my teeth
and try to plan my
getaway! (NOT My Gateway !!)

Chorus 2

Someday
Monday I’ll sleep in ‘till noon
And stay out late
And live the life I want
I know
One day
I’ll leave this dull grey cubicle behind
If the rent could still be paid

Bridge

The dental plan
Serves me well
Love my ergonomic chair
Steady pay
That I never seem to save
I’ve been wasting too much time
I don’t wanna be there

Chorus 3

Someday
Monday I’ll sleep in ‘till noon
And stay out late
And live the life I want
I know
One day
I’ll leave this dull grey cubicle behind
Things are gonna be different

Someday
Monday I’ll sleep in ‘till noon
And stay out late
And live the life I want
I know
One day
I’ll kiss this dull grey cubicle goodbye
If the rent could still be paid
